How to Set Up Your AIPI Lite in 3 Minutes

Before You Start

Your AIPI Lite ships with a demo agent pre-installed, so it works right out of the box — you can press the button and start talking immediately. But that's just a preview. To unlock the full experience, you'll want to bind your own agent with a custom personality, voice, and knowledge base.

Step 1: Connect to WiFi (~60 seconds)

On the device:

1. Power on your AIPI Lite. The screen will display a WiFi setup prompt showing the hotspot name (PI-Lite-XXXX) and the config URL (http://192.168.4.1).

On your phone:

2. Go to your phone's WiFi settings and connect to the PI-Lite-XXXX hotspot.
3. Your phone should automatically open a setup page. If it doesn't, open a browser and go to http://192.168.4.1
4. Select your home WiFi network, enter the password, and tap Connect.
5. AIPI Lite will restart and show "Network connection successful" on screen.

Tip: AIPI Lite needs a 2.4GHz WiFi network. If you only see 5GHz networks at home, check your router settings — most routers broadcast both.

Step 2: Get Your Device Code (~30 seconds)

This is the step most people get stuck on — but once you know the trick, it takes 10 seconds.

1. Long-press the right-side function key for a full 5 seconds. Don't release early — 5 seconds feels longer than you think.
2. A menu will appear on screen showing two options: "1. Configure Network" and "2. Replace the Agent".
   • A single short press = Configure Network (re-do WiFi setup)
   • A double-tap = Replace the Agent (this is what you want)
3. Double-tap the right button. Your AIPI Lite will announce a 6-digit Device Code out loud and display it on screen.

If nothing happens: You're almost certainly releasing too early. Hold for a full 5 seconds — count "one-Mississippi, two-Mississippi..." all the way to five.

If it jumps back to WiFi config: That means you're short-pressing instead of long-pressing. A short press triggers WiFi setup; a long 5-second press triggers the menu.

If the screen shows options but tapping doesn't work: The screen isn't a touchscreen — use the physical button to navigate.

Step 3: Bind Your Agent (~60 seconds)

1. On your phone or computer, go to xdc.aipi.com
2. Create an account or log in.
3. Browse the Agent Marketplace and pick an agent — or create your own from scratch.
4. Click "Import" and enter the 6-digit Device Code from Step 2.
5. Your AIPI Lite will confirm the binding. Done.

What's Next?

Now that your AIPI Lite is set up, here are a few things to explore:

• Create your own agent — Write a Character Description and Knowledge Base to build a specialist or a character that's entirely yours.
• Choose your AI model — In the agent editor on XDC, you'll find a Model Selection dropdown. Pick from Xorigin, GPT-5.2, GPT-4.1, Gemini, Azure, or AmazonBedrock.
• Try Voice Clone — Available on Pro plans and above. Give your agent a custom voice.
• Add more devices — Each agent can be bound to a dedicated AIPI Lite. Some users build entire collections.
