What is AIPI Lite?

AIPI Lite is a palm-sized physical character you can talk to. Choose a ready-made character or create your own personality, voice and backstory. Set it up in your browser, connect it to Wi-Fi, then press the button to speak and hear it answer. No drawing, coding or custom build is required.

How do I get started? Do I need an app?

Use your phone or computer's web browser at xdc.aipi.com—no app download is needed. Connect AIPI Lite to Wi-Fi, then use its Device Code to link your device and choose a character.

You can edit its personality, voice and knowledge later. Saved changes take effect on your next conversation. Follow the setup guide; the time needed varies by network.

Do I need a subscription?

No. Every device starts on Free, with ready-made characters, voice conversations, custom character creation, Knowledge Base and memory. Paid plans add optional features such as voice cloning and larger character descriptions.

Hardware checkout does not include a paid subscription. Compare the optional plans above, then manage your choice at xdc.aipi.com after setup.

Does it need WiFi?

Yes. The standard AIPI Lite experience uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to connect to cloud AI models. A password-protected network is required; you can also use a compatible phone hotspot. No app needs to remain open while you talk.

What's in the box?

What is an AI agent?

In AIPI, an AI agent is simply a character you can talk to—a personality with its own voice, instructions, and optional knowledge. Free includes ready-made agents and lets you create and edit your own. It is not a conversation credit or a device count.

What can I do with it?

Talk to a character: start with a ready-made personality or create your own voice and backstory.

Give it your world: add stories, notes or reference material to help shape its answers.

Go further if you want: place it in a custom build or connect additional tools. These are optional projects, not required for everyday conversation.

How is this different from Character AI or ChatGPT?

Unlike an app-only chatbot, AIPI Lite is a physical, voice-first device. You configure the character’s identity, knowledge, voice, and AI model, then talk to it as a standalone object or build it into your own project.

Can I upload PDFs, manuals, or books to my Agent?

Yes. Add PDFs, manuals or reference files (up to 8MB per file) to your character's Knowledge Base in XDC, or enter plain text. This helps it draw on your own material when answering.

AI responses can still be incomplete or incorrect. Uploaded knowledge does not guarantee that every answer comes exclusively from your files. Connected tools, the selected model and your character's instructions can also affect a response.

Does it require a battery to work without plugging in?

A 450mAh battery module is included with every purchase. Snap it on for portable, cord-free use. You can also use AIPI plugged in via USB-C (cable not included) for unlimited desk use.

What is a Character Description, and what do the 5,000 / 20,000 limits mean?

A Character Description defines who your AI character is—its personality, role, tone, background, behavior rules, and speaking style.

The 5,000 or 20,000 limit refers to the number of text characters—including letters, spaces, and punctuation—allowed in each AI character's description. It does not limit how many AI characters you can create or how many conversations you can have.

A longer description gives you more room for backstory, behavior instructions, world lore, and examples.

  • Character Description = who it is.
  • Knowledge Base = what it knows.
  • MCP tools = what it can do.
How do I set up my AIPI Lite?

Power on your device and follow the Wi-Fi setup steps. Open xdc.aipi.com in your browser, use your Device Code to link the device, and choose a character. Setup time varies by network. See the full illustrated guide.

What is the AI Memory field for?

The AI Memory field (up to 2,000 characters) stores context the AI references every conversation — like your name, preferences, or key facts. Memory is optional — you can turn it on or off per agent (some agents don't need it). For detailed knowledge (manuals, guides, expertise), use the Knowledge Base field (5K chars on Free/Pro, 20K on Ultra or Ultra Lifetime).

Can I edit my Agent after creating it?

Yes — Character Description, Knowledge Base, Model Selection, and all other settings are fully editable at any time on xdc.aipi.com. Changes take effect on your next conversation.

Can one device hold multiple Agents? Can I switch between them?

Each device runs one agent at a time by design. To switch, go to xdc.aipi.com → Device Management → unbind the current agent, then rebind a new one. Your account can hold up to 5 devices(free tier).

What does "Lifetime" mean?

Lifetime access is tied to your account, not a specific device. You get continuous access to all voice services as long as our service is active, with up to 10 devices on one account.

What happens if I cancel a paid plan?

Your device continues on Free. Your characters and their settings remain available, but paid features are no longer available. When your plan drops to Free, cloned voice data is deleted and characters using cloned voices revert to a default voice.

MCP is available on Free and is not removed by canceling a paid plan. Review your account settings before changing your plan.

Are subscriptions auto-renewing?

Auto-renew is optional for Pro and Ultra. Choose continuous subscription to save $2 each month—Pro becomes $7.99/mo and Ultra becomes $13.99/mo—and cancel anytime in your account. You can still choose the regular one-month option at $9.99 or $15.99 without auto-renew.

Does AIPI Lite support Bluetooth?

AIPI Lite is equipped with Bluetooth® 5 (LE) hardware. However, Bluetooth is not currently enabled for user-facing features.

Will Bluetooth be supported in the future?

We may enable additional features through future updates. Any new functionality will be announced officially.

Can it check the weather or tell me the time?

Yes. AIPI Lite supports real-time queries including weather, time, and more via MCP integrations.

How does AIPI choose between Character Description, Knowledge Base, and MCP?

AIPI does not check them in a fixed order. It first identifies your intent, then selects the best source:

  • Knowledge Base for information in your uploaded files.
  • MCP tools for connected services such as weather or external data.
  • Character Description for personality, behavior, and general conversation.

When appropriate, AIPI uses the selected information while maintaining the character’s defined personality.

Can I use AIPI Lite on public WiFi without a password?

No — AIPI Lite requires a password-protected (WPA2) WiFi network. Open/unsecured public networks are not supported. This is a common limitation across IoT devices. Workaround: use your phone's mobile hotspot to get connected anywhere.
