How to Find Your AIPI Lite Device Code — And Switch Agents Any Time

The device code is a 6-digit code your AIPI Lite broadcasts to link the device to an AI agent on your account. You need it any time you bind, rebind, or switch agents.

This guide covers:

  • Where the device code first appears (brand-new setup)
  • How to display it again whenever you want
  • How to switch agents after you've already paired one (the most common reason people look for the device code)
  • Why long-pressing might only show WiFi setup — and how to fix it

When the device code first appears

When your AIPI Lite is in its initial state (no agent bound yet) and successfully connected to WiFi:

  1. Press and hold the right function button for 3 seconds. The selection interface appears on screen.
  2. Double-tap the same button. Your AIPI announces a 6-digit device code out loud and displays it on screen.
  3. The status light flashes blue — that's the "broadcasting device code" state.
  4. Go to xdc.aipi.comAgent Marketplace → pick an agent → click Import → enter the 6-digit code → Confirm.

That's it for first-time pairing.

Already paired? Here's how to switch to a new agent.

This is where most people get stuck. After your first successful pairing, the right button's behavior changes: hold it down now and you'll likely see only the WiFi configuration menu — no device code broadcast.

That's by design. AIPI Lite is built as a one-device, one-agent product, and once an agent is bound, all agent switching happens on the web side at xdc.aipi.com. This prevents accidental unpairing.

There are two ways to unbind at xdc.aipi.com — both end the same way (your AIPI broadcasts a fresh 6-digit device code after restart). Pick whichever entry point you spot first.

Path A — via Device Management

  1. Go to xdc.aipi.com in any browser.
  2. Log in with the email you used at checkout.
  3. Click Agent Creation and DevicesDevice Management.
  4. Find your AIPI in the device list.
  5. Click Unbind next to it.
  6. Restart your AIPI (unplug and replug the Type-C, or use the power button under the battery mode).

After the restart, hold the right function button for 3 seconds, double-tap, and a fresh 6-digit device code broadcasts. Enter it at xdc.aipi.com with your new agent.

Path B — via "Device code not popping up"

If you were trying to bind a new agent and got stuck waiting for the device code to appear, you've probably seen a "Device code not popping up" link on the binding page. That link is the shortcut into the same unbind flow:

  1. In xdc.aipi.com, click "Device code not popping up" on the device-code entry screen.
  2. The page displays every device currently paired to your account.
  3. Find your AIPI in that list → click Unbind.
  4. Restart your AIPI (unplug and replug the Type-C, or use the power button).

After the restart (either path): hold the right function button for 3 seconds, double-tap, and a fresh 6-digit device code broadcasts. Enter it at xdc.aipi.com with your new agent.

Three official paths, per the manual

The official AIPI Lite instruction book describes three flows:

Scenario What to do
Method 1 — Brand-new device, never paired Standard activation: 3-second hold → double-tap → enter the 6-digit code at xdc.aipi.com.
Method 2 — Already paired, want to switch agents In xdc.aipi.com, click "Device code not popping up." Select your device → Unbind. Restart, then redo the 3-second hold + double-tap.
Method 3 — Manage all devices on your account xdc.aipi.com → Agent Creation and DevicesDevice ManagementUnbind → restart → new device code broadcasts.

All three end the same way: your AIPI announces a fresh 6-digit code so you can bind a new agent.

Why your long-press only shows WiFi setup

Two reasons users hit this — they look identical but the fix is different.

Cause 1: You're holding the button too long

The right function button actually has two long-press modes:

Hold duration Result Status light
3+ seconds Selection interface (your gateway to the device code)
5+ seconds Skip the menu, go straight to WiFi reconfiguration Purple flashing

If you've been holding for "as long as it takes," you may be sailing past the selection menu and landing in WiFi-only mode. Try a clean 3-second hold and release — count it out, then let go.

If the status light is flashing purple, you've gone too long.

Cause 2: Your device is already bound to an agent

Even with a clean 3-second hold, a bound device may default to WiFi setup. That's the design — agent switching is a web-side operation.

Fix: use the xdc.aipi.com → Device Management → Unbind flow above. After unbinding and restarting, the 3-second hold will work as expected.

Common mistakes

  • Holding the right button for too long. 3 seconds is the sweet spot. 5+ seconds takes you past the selection interface into WiFi-only mode.
  • Looking for a hardware factory-reset combo. There isn't one. Agent unbinding happens only on the web at xdc.aipi.com.
  • Long-pressing the left button instead of the right. Left button = power off (battery use only). Right button = function / setup menu.
  • Trying to tap the screen. The screen isn't a touchscreen — all interaction is via the right function button.
  • Assuming the device is broken because behavior changed. It's not. Menu behavior shifts after pairing — that's the design, not a bug.

Status light cheat sheet

Not sure what state your AIPI is in? Check the status light:

Light Meaning
Blue flashing Broadcasting device code — ready to bind at xdc.aipi.com
Blue steady Standby — ready for conversation
Orange steady Listening or responding
Purple flashing WiFi reconfiguration mode (you held the button 5+ seconds)
Green breathing Charging or fully charged
Red flashing Battery below 20%
Yellow steady Entering working state (just after power on)
Pink steady Preparing to power off

Quick reference

Symptom Cause Fix
First-time setup, need the device code Brand-new state 3-second hold → double-tap → 6-digit code broadcasts
Long-press only shows WiFi setup Either holding too long, or device already bound First try a clean 3-second hold. If still WiFi only → unbind via xdc.aipi.com
Selection menu worked at first, then stopped Device got bound — switching is now web-side xdc.aipi.com → Device Management → Unbind → restart
Want to tweak the current agent (not switch) No need to unbind Edit the agent at xdc.aipi.com; changes sync on next conversation
Status light purple flashing You're in WiFi reconfig (5-sec hold) Either complete WiFi setup, or restart the device to exit
Code appeared then disappeared Normal timeout The code refreshes — repeat 3-second hold + double-tap
