AIPI Lite Troubleshooting: 9 Common Issues & Quick Fixes

AIPI Lite Troubleshooting: 9 Common Issues & Quick Fixes

Having trouble with your AIPI Lite? You're not alone — and most issues have a quick fix. This guide covers the most common problems our support team sees, with step-by-step solutions.

1. "I Can't Get the Binding Code / Device Code"

This is the #1 question we get. Here's what's happening: you're not holding the button long enough.

  1. Press and hold the right-side button for a full 5 seconds — don't release early. Five seconds feels longer than you think.
  2. A menu will appear showing "Configure Network" and "Replace the Agent".
  3. Release the button, then double-tap the same button (two quick presses).
  4. Your AIPI Lite will announce a 6-digit Device Code out loud and display it on screen.
  5. Go to xdc.aipi.com → Agent Marketplace → pick an agent → Import → enter the code.

Common mistakes:

  • Holding for only 2–3 seconds (too short — keep going to a full 5)
  • Tapping the screen (the screen isn't touch-sensitive — use the physical button)
  • Single-pressing instead of double-tapping in step 3

2. "The Activation Code Flashed By Too Quickly"

No worries — you can regenerate it anytime:

  1. Long-press the right button for 5 seconds
  2. Select "Replace the Agent"
  3. The 6-digit code will reappear on screen and be announced out loud

Take your time — the code doesn't expire until you use it.

3. "My Device Keeps Going Back to WiFi Setup"

This can mean two different things:

Scenario A: During initial setup

You're short-pressing instead of long-pressing. Hold the right button for a full 5 seconds until you see both menu options ("Configure Network" AND "Replace the Agent"). If you only see WiFi config, you released too early.

Scenario B: After you've already bound an agent

Your device is still bound to its current agent. The system won't let you bind a new one until you unbind the old one.

Fix: Go to xdc.aipi.comDevice Management → find your device → click "Unbind". Then try the long-press → double-tap sequence again to get a fresh Device Code.

4. "How Do I Switch to a Different Agent?"

Each AIPI Lite device runs one agent at a time by design. To switch:

  1. Go to xdc.aipi.comDevice Management
  2. Find your device and click "Unbind"
  3. On the device, long-press right button for 5 seconds → double-tap to get a new Device Code
  4. Go to Agent Marketplace → pick a new agent → Import → enter the code

Good to know: We're working on a future product that supports switching agents via NFC cards — but on the current hardware, the unbind/rebind process is required each time.

5. "My AIPI Lite Won't Connect to WiFi"

Password-protected network (WPA2)

This is the standard setup. Long-press the right button → select "Configure Network" → short-press to enter the WiFi hotspot interface. Connect your phone to the AIPI hotspot and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your WiFi credentials.

Open / public WiFi (no password)

AIPI Lite requires a password-protected WiFi network. Open/unsecured public networks are not supported — this is a common limitation across IoT devices.

Workarounds:

  • Mobile hotspot — turn on your phone's hotspot and connect your AIPI Lite to that. This is the quickest fix for using it at work, hotels, or on the go.
  • Ask your IT team if there's a WPA2-secured IoT network available.

6. "My Device Keeps Saying 'I'm Going to Take a Break'"

This is normal. When your AIPI Lite is idle for a period of time, it enters standby mode and announces "I'm going to take a break" as a status prompt.

To wake it up, just short-press the right button and start talking. Your agent is still there — it's just saving battery while you're away.

7. "My Battery Pack Won't Hold a Charge"

First, make sure the battery module is properly installed:

  • Position it with contacts facing forward at the bottom right
  • Attach it to the back of the device until you hear a "click"
  • The four side alignment holes should match up

If the battery is properly installed but still won't hold a charge, it may be a hardware defect. Contact us and we'll arrange a replacement.

8. "Where Is the Developer Platform Link?"

The developer platform your device is referring to is xdc.aipi.com — the AIPI Developer Community. This is where you:

  • Create and edit AI agents
  • Manage your Knowledge Base
  • Choose your AI model
  • Bind/unbind devices
  • Set up voice cloning (Pro+)

Bookmark it — you'll use it often: xdc.aipi.com

9. "How Do I Turn Off My AIPI Lite?"

Long-press the left button to power off. If the device is completely unresponsive, you can remove the battery directly.
